KELLY BROTHERTON JOINS THE TEAM AT KILLARNEY

We would like to welcome our new PGA Trainee to Killarney Golf & Fishing Club.Kelly Brotherton will join our Professional team after an illustrious amateur career.An outstanding junior, with a host of national titles to her name, Brotherton won the scottish u 21 Championship when she was only 15 to become the youngest ever winner. At 17, she won a scholarship at the David Leadbetter Academy in Florida, and was subsequently recruited by Colorado State University before transferring to the University of Tennessee.She will bring a wealth of experience with her to Killarney and her presence here will be a major boost for the development of girls and ladies golf in the Killarney and Kerry region.Kelly will be trained by Head Professional David Keating who will be assisted in this role by Head Assistant Professional Billy O' Boyle.

CHRISTY O CONNOR  SNR JOINS THE HALL OF FAME

Former Killarney Golf & Fishing Club Head Professional Christy O Connor Snr Was recently inducted into the "World Golf Hall of Fame".It is a tremendous Honour for Christy as He is the First Irish Professional Inductee.He joins European Greats Seve Ballesteros ,Nick Faldo ,Bernhard Langer as well as Legendary Golfers Jack Nicklaus,Arnold Palmer and Tom Watson at the " Hall of Fame".

 IRISH OPEN RETURNS TO KILLARNEY GOLF & FISHING CLUB

The European Tour and 3, Ireland’s fastest growing mobile network, are pleased to announce that the 3 Irish Open will take place next year at the Killarney Golf and Fishing Club from July 29  to August 1, 2010. 

It will be the third time that Killarney has hosted the Irish Open following consecutive events in 1991 and ’92.  The venue also hosted the Challenge of Ireland on the European Challenge Tour in 2005 and 2006.

The tournament’s new prime slot on The European Tour is a major boost for title sponsors 3 and elevates the 3 Irish Open to the position of one of the most prestigious tournaments in European golf.  The prize fund for the 2010 3 Irish Open will be more than €3 million.

The staging of the 3 Irish Open over the Irish August Bank Holiday weekend on the magnificent Killeen course, just weeks before the European Ryder Cup Team is announced, is expected to attract golf’s marquee names to the Co Kerry venue.  Many will still be in the chase to secure a place on the European Team for the showdown with the USA at Celtic Manor in September 2010.

 

At a recent G.U.I. Munster branch meeting it was announced that Killarney Golf & Fishing Club Head P.G.A. Professonal David Keating is the new Head of Golf Coaching in County Kerry.David will be responsible for Junior Golf developement in the County.He will be assisted in his role by Billy O Boyle,Head Assistant Professional @ Killarney Golf & Fishing club.
